The post before this one touched on misalignment in horses. A question that arises out of that conversation is, how do we know if our horse is misaligned? Let's be real, we don't watch our horses 24/7.
Most of the time, we don't check to see if our horse is misaligned unless the horse starts acting strange, sore, or shows lameness. By then, not only is the horse dealing with misalignment but also with a lot of pain. It helps our horses if we can catch misalignments well before the serious pain has set in.
It is important for us to understand the horse's body. To teach ourselves to not just recognize proper movement or posture but also facial expressions, breathing, and energy. We must know what to look for, and we must be willing to search. To be able to go beyond the surface.
When you start recognizing the horse full spectrum, you start operating differently with the horse. You look at things and consider things on a different level, and you're able to have a much deeper conversation with your horse. Proper alignment leads to leads to a sound mind and body.
The more informed you are about your horse, the better you can help them.
